Gift

This wonderful book:

Lewis wrote that 'the gift' has stages:

First, the experience of the gift is given.

Then, we suffer gratitude. And while we feel this massive and sometimes painful gratitude,
[perhaps the distance between our now and the now of the gift],

we labor to bring ourselves up to the level of the gift. After our labor is complete we can contain it. And then we can give the gift too.

Isn't that nice?

So now don't be so hard on yourself after you're given loving presents.

Roger on the Left, sketch on the right

There were two sisters both called Unknown, and they took names upon marrying. The first Unknown sister married Mr. Tight Grip, and she became known as Madame Terror. And when the second Unknown sister married Mr. Let It Go, she went by Ms. Wonder.

Merry Christmas!

Joy to the World!

On Giving by Robert Graves

Those who dare give nothing

Are left with less than nothing;
Dear heart, you give me everything,
Which leaves you more than everything-
Though those who dare give nothing
Might judge it left you less than nothing.

Giving you everything,
I too, who once had nothing,
Am left with more than everything
As gifts for those with nothing
Who need, if not our everything,
At least a loving something.

Warm Soup

Some people are like fresh bread- the aroma fills the house.
And some people are like stale bread.
Ouch.
I could lose some skin rubbing up to the likes of this one!

I want to know what Love is!

Love says,
I'm warm tasty soup!
Dip each piece of bread in me.
I leave 'em so drenched
You can't tell which is which!

I made my first copied painting! I never thought I'd do it. But I did.

Would you like to see a picture of my grandmother? Pop-Pop had this painted of Nana when he was stationed in Japan at the end of WWII. They were 18.

Steve and I are in Beaufort! God bless it. As you can see, Steve's had a lot of business to attend to, so I'm not sure he's been able to relax just yet. We walked along the beach today and bothered the sand pipers. They're so funny! They snuggle together on the sand, standing on one leg. If you come near all the tiny sandpipers hop away... on one leg. It's ridiculous; these waves of mini birdie balls bobbing along...
They have round fuzzy white bellies.
I want to tickle them.

Right smack dab in the middle of town
I've found a paradise that's trouble proof
And if this world starts getting you down
There's room enough for two
Up on the roof
Have some soup

Worrying? No, no, I'll get it.

Gentle Blog Reader,

If you have any worries today- STOP! I've taken care of all the worrying responsibilities already. I did lots and lots of worrying so as to warrant over-achievement on all worrying goals this week. So don't waste your time! I've taken care of it!

I am suspicious of all government because government is violence.”

They renounce the world- the world of material objects, of historical time and social pressures. Decorating a public, sacred space, they express a private and very human desire: a despairing wish to withdraw from the human."

Snow and a Cardinal

First snow!
Look who stopped by...
Mr. Bunnyyyyyy! Did you have some arugula? I hope so.
A Steve danced along our walk...

I planted my naked self in the snow...
The clouds played...
It was magical.

Then *CRASH!!!*
What was that?!

What did we see, but oh dear... a cardinal breathing on his back, his wing splayed beneath him. He must have flown into the barn window.

We stood there with him, him on his back. Steve said, 'Maybe we can take him to the bird rescue. I'm gonna do EFT.' I told cardinal, is okay, it's okay, you are going to fly or you are going to leave. He stood up!
He was breathing intensely- it moved his whole body. We kneeled and stood there with him, and it was apparent that he was realigning himself from the shock of flying into the window. So we told him we'd give him some time alone and go the rest of our walk, and then come back. After about 20 minutes we returned, and Steve and I both let out a little groan when we saw him still sitting there. He turned to see us. And what did he do? He flew away! Hurray!

We stayed there watching him hop along merrily from branch to branch within the snowy trees.

Angel Flies Away

We brought giant baskets of fresh roses filled to the brim.
We were there to give gifts.
Gifts to a king who decorated with dried flowers.
Maybe he didn't know they were dead.
We bowed down with all our blossoms
bending our backs, petals spilling as we kneeled.

He turned us away,
insulted by our offering.

He's flying away to his new home in New York today.
(sniff)- miss you buddy

On a Big Moon Night

Stevee and I were sitting under that big moon tonight.
We were in the hot tub eating an apple and a chocolate.
We hadn't seen each other in a bit.
He asked, "So! You still torturing yourself?"

Yeah, but I think I'm untying the knot.

That knot!
Each time I come across an artist with more money or exposure
I automatically ask myself a question.

I ask, "What am I doing wrong?"

Then I clench my teeth.
I just realized
I don't have to ask that question.

I had thought
(on account of brainwashing I can only presume)

that I would be valuable as an artist
(like the real ones, not the not real ones, right?)
when hoards of people agreed,
"We like it."

What a stupid idea!

(unaerica at Flickr)
Bunny says, "Hrmm, I think me rethink this a little bit..."

I read m'love "Where the Wild Things Are" as a goodnight story.

Young Max leaves home at night.
He travels all around the world to play with the monsters
and live in their world.

But Max misses being loved.
So he sails across the ocean,
and after years away he arrives home again.

And his meal is still hot.

A scrap of angel lullaby down some forgotten street

Standing on the moon with nothing left to do

A lovely view of heaven, but I'd rather be with you.

Be with you.

Crimson white and indigo
Indigo.
